- Play.com Review
Day and Age sees Las Vegas indie quartet The Killers return with their third album of new material. A continuation of the concept established within their second album Sam's Town, Day and Age is an irresistible glitter-ball of fun that includes the critically acclaimed single 'Human'.
Taking all of the grandeur and fashionista charm of their previous albums, Hot Fuss and Sam's Town, The Killers have built upon their established sound to deliver in Day and Age an album that will make dancefloors quake with its dandyish neon beats and big statements. Acting on influences from song-writing giants such as Bruce Springsteen and U2, The Killers' lead singer Brandon Flowers projects epic storytelling lyrics amidst a shiny mix of galloping bass lines and smoky synths.
Produced by Stuart Price of Les Rythmes Digitales, Day and Age captures The Killers recognisable sound in a whirl of buzzing horns and stomping beats. With melodies that will stick in your head and invade your soul, Day and Age is a vast album that sparkles with dazzling anthemic tracks.

After sams town & hot fuss, day and age proves that the killers may be stuggling to stick with the hype. The first track losing touch is brilliant, and the next two are also really good. But 4th track joyride is a horrible mess - awful lyrics and the tune itself is disjointed and sounds like something patched together fomr a load of 80's pop songs. The rest of the album is pretty standard stuff - nothing making it shine anywhere near as bright as the previous 2 albums. In fact, the last 4 or so tracks are b-sides at best. Initially, i was very disapointed but after a few listens some of the other tracks grow on you -neon tiger being one of them. Sams town it is not though - maybe something to do with the lack of alan moulder and flood's production.
Three albums in and still a joy to listen to!!
